how odd, seems fine now, maybe she was sulking as we havnt played for a while :D drove about a mile after i let it get to norm temp, didnt use vtec though, built up area. checked water level and is fine :? now wondering if driving it against the brakes caused this overheat(but didnt do this that much), though it did let me know it was very low on coolant. discs are still knocking (shouldnt have left the hand brake on for the first 6 weeks or so, then realised and took it off). think maybe best bet would be some illegal speeding just before mot  (just to ensure brake efficancy you know).
guess the water level is my fualt as i havnt checked it in 6 years  these hondas are so reliable :P

OUT of the head; there's a NRV in the breather. Remember, the engine block is full of condensation after being stood so long, so that will vaporise & be burned off by the PCV; so it could all be coincidence that it was emitting steam.

It's entirely possible your thermostat stuck shut until it bubbled up. The water may have leaked out anyway; loads of possibilities.

See how it goes.
