Skirts don't fit :(

Post by bb1boy » Fri Jun 01, 2012 12:17 pm

Hey y'all

So I managed to get a set of these:
Image
brand new, for £15! Possible accident on eBayer's behalf.. either way, they are mine now but they don't bloody fit! I know most of you won't like them, but that doesn't change the fact that I am a bit stuck!
Has anyone else had experience fitting such things? ..Am I ok to cut the skirts, strategically, so they fit on a bit better? I figure I can blend them in after to hide any small cuts I had to make..
Oh and these things are meant to go on over the top of OEM skirts, right??
Cheers guys
Adam

I'm pretty sure they replace the OEM skirts? Not 100% sure though.

I put them over the stock skirts and they're just not quite right, very tight fit over the skirt - if I hold the front where it should be, the back is away from the panel and if I push the back in place there is a strain on the skirt like its trying to twist.. it may go on better without the stock skirt in situ, but I think the problem is from where the two halfs of the skirt are joined together in the middle, perhaps it wasn't the straightest joint in the world.. I suppose I could cut them in half, fit both ends and then join them up in the middle again - but i'm no pro and I really don't wanna fcuk these up!

take off the oem skirts and be prepared to have to use wood spacers or something to get these fixed. there will be no mounting plates on these or any clip mounts so you are going to have to get inventive.

These will not go on with oem skirts still in place. :!:

i got some F.G. motegi's. wondered about how to fit them for over a year. I had already failed with the matching front and rear lips (ended up driving over the pair of them repeatedly in a strop :D :? )

I ended up wit a bit of double sided foam tape on the top and three blocks of wood underneath as spacers then chucked in a massive self tapper screw throught each block and into the chassis.

followed that up with a squirt of waxoil and decided thart was that.

you will have to damage the car in some way to effectivly fit these i reckon. make sure its not too noticable when you eventually rip them off.
