Tried for vtec in 1st 2nd and 3rd, I know that 1st can be no vtec if fitted with speed deristricter.
Ecu is from 4th gen jdm manual. I assume it does not have traction control. I like your thinking though :)

Traction control shouldn't affect Vtec, you'd know anyway as there would be a plug missing on the ecu

List of possibilties

1. No vtec signal
2. No speed signal to the ECU
3. No Temp signal to the ECU
4. Faulty vtec solenoid
5. Low oil pressure or no signal to the ecu

that's just a quick off the top of my head list

tcs was a jdm option so it may or may not have come with it, only asking because the pin arrangment on tcs/non tcs ecus are slightly different!

the "Pressure signal" wire is linked to the vtec solenoid so that may be where youve gone wrong?

the pressure signal pin is the 3rd from the right on the top row (the right being on the outer side of the ecu) on the 22 pin connector

As I understand the tcs ecu has 4 plugs, the ecu and loom I have is only three plugs so I guess that is non-tcs.
thanx for the link to the ecu pinouts. Interesting that this list has the A/T pins listed.the other lists I have show them as blank. I am sure that the oil pressure is ok as the sensor below the Vtec solenoid is switching. I will double check that the signal is reaching the ecu. I notice there is also a pin showing 'Vtec pressure Ground' agian I will double check that this is reaching ecu.
Ammo, thanx for input. As I have already said in previous posts I have no signal out of the ecu for the vtec. the other things you mention all check out.
Thanx again guys, :10: I am going to bedsville now. will check out your thoughts and let you know
