Which engine cleaners/flush/additives to use?

lll, what fuel are you using? I had bad carbon build up on my Golf back when I removed the head, and it was getting to the point where hot carbon was causing detonation, the engine to run a few seconds after ignition off, and just like a lump of jobby in general (not saying yours is anywhere near as bad as my Golf's btw, just an example :P ). However I have been running Shell V-Power religiously for a couple of months now, and it really seems to have improved things to no end. Apparently they include some sort of combustion chamber cleaner in the petrol, I was dubious but it seems to have done the trick, the car was running a lot smoother just after the first tank :) the real test will be next time I pull the head, see if it's actually visibly any better!!

For the cost of a tank of fuel though it's worth a try I reckon :)

@jjmartin: ;) I only ever feed my ludes Vpower. Im on 11:1 CR with the S so I can really make use of the extra octaine. Plus the jap fuel is a higher octaine as standard regardless but Its the best fuel on the market by a long way imo. Im defo a convert :lol:

I have 10L of Gulf comp, 3x hamp oil filters and some stickers on the way from oilman (share with whiterabbit) and the cleaners are next order (opie sell none for cars :? )
