Nitin mate had my Sat nav out at the weekend so I was able to have a look at all the plugs etc. Here's what I know.

The screen is driven by the CD navigation unit, It will/can run separately without the OEM head unit plugged in. Ive not got a OEM head unit, and my heater, sat nav and TV all work fine. On a side note my clock button has never worked, always assumed this was driven by the head unit, anyone got a working clock button would be interested to see what it does!

You need all the plugs on the CD navigation unit plugged in, as you show you have done in your picture, these connect the screen to the CD unit and also connect the GPS antener in the rear window (like a heated rear window element). There is also a module for the TV receiver which is located behind the rear passenger side panel trim behind where the seat belt mechinisum is located. I think the TV module is on a separate loom so if unplugged I wouldn't have thought that the screen would still work but it is worth a check to see if they are also plugged in. The TV module has loads of connectors such as the TV arials which are located in the glass of the rear passenger quarter window and also video input plugs for a VCR/DVD input (NTSC only).

On the back on the screen there are two plugs one larger black one and a smaller green one, as far as I can tell these wont plug in to anything else so if it fits they are probably right. There should also be a white plastic module about the size of a fag pack. This would have been originally mounted on a metal frame on the back of the screen cage but yours may have been taken off when the screen was removed. This allows the screen unit to interface with the climate control and heater elements. Again fairly sure the screen would turn on without this and just the heater controls would not work but worth checking.

Also as a bit of a side note my screen has stopped working twice, not sure how typical this is but due to the age of these systems I would reccon quite likely. I stripped mine down and found out the screens are 'backlight' with old school CCFL technology not LEDs which is common now. A CCFL is basically a very small florescent tube light which needs a starter circut to operate, kinda like HIDs. I have had to replace my starter circuit twice now.

Keeping tabs on this ;)

Si, did you fit the non-OEM head unit yourself?

Also, i dont have a clock button. My clock is turned on/off using the touchscreen. It's accurate to the minute but is always on Tokyo time

This weekend is not good, I'm going to Italy! Will be back the following weekend if you are free. :)

Er I didn't fit the original after market head unit. The car came with it fitted but I have changed it and re-wired it a number of times for my various audio installs. My car has an ISO connector wired in to the car loom, but this is pretty standard stuff for audio installers. I cant see why they are having so much problem with it.

Ah ok I have a button on the top left of the touchscreen, as shown in Nitin's picture.

Not sure where the fuse is without looking, it pretty likely that it would be the same as the radio or cigarette lighter.

I've had screen issues with my Sat Nav too recently , I found that the screen would go dead and not display anything, but the buttons around it would work and if you touch the touch screen in the right place on the fans would still work.

The touch screen buttons do still work, just can't see them. How do you replace the light?
