Rich's BB4
Is the throttle plate completely closed? Give it a blast with throttle cleaner to make sure no carbon has built up over time. The engine should stall if you cover the top hole as there should be no other way for air to get into the engine if the FITV is closed (looks like it on the vid). So I'd check for vac leaks (you can do this with carb cleaner but be very careful as it is flammable) Spray it over any gasket/ joints to see if the idle drops.

Re: Rich's BB4 - "Tulip"
Sprayed the throttle body & wiped it down to get rid of any gunk & make sure it closed properly...

Looks clean & closed to me. Problem still exists.
Couldn't find any vacuum leaks either. Only place I didn't check was the intake manifold gasket. I read somewhere that this can cause the problem too, it's a cheap part to replace but looks quite difficult to get to.
I think I'll check for air in the coolant before trying that, it looks easier.

did you block the top hole in the mouth of the throttle body to see if it stalls

Yeah, it's probably that intake manifold that I wanted to leave until last...
I guess I can skip checking the coolant.

no it will more than likely be a vacuum hose

They all seemed fine. I've sprayed carb cleaner all over the area and noticed no change in the engine note.mercutio wrote:no it will more than likely be a vacuum hose
I'll give them another thorough check over. I should probably remove my strut brace as it is a bit awkward to get in behind it.

Quarterly Update
Well 3 months have passed since myand land profile updatea I've done pretty much sod all. I've spent too much time getting our house ready to sell.
I did buy a boss kit for my steering wheel, but I only bought a cheap-ass one from eBay and it doesn't have connections for my horn & cruise buttons - so that's back on my list!
Oh, and I got my tracking done too! It handles much better now... it was miles out!
I also got some nice Autoglym stuff from my wife for our anniversary in July, so I gave the car a nice wash; it's probably due another one now.
On a sad note, I discovered that my gearbox wasn't M2B4 as it was supposed to be
Serves me right for not checking properly in 3 months of ownership (which basically involved wiping the code sticker to reveal M2A4)!
I still haven't sorted the idle issue I had either... I have found a way to deal with it though, i.e. find biting point and the revs drop below 1500rpm and stay there. I will sort it out eventually but need to find the time. It is probably just a vacuum hose somewhere so I will buy some replacement silicone hoses and swap them all. Q: What size/type of hose should I get?
So aside from doing bot all to the car really in the last 3 months - I have accumulated a few parts:
Well, that's my quarterly update done! Very exciting I'm sure!

So aside from doing bot all to the car really in the last 3 months - I have accumulated a few parts:
- Rocker cover (which I intend to refurbish and replace the one currently fitted)
K&N 57i induction kit (got a few options now... Which should I use: K&N 57i, K&N panel filter, or eBay special induction kit & cone filter?)
Black-backed projector headlights
M2B4 gearbox (after discovering I didn't have LSD, then resigning myself to it & expecting to have to pay out £300+ for one, this came up for a good price locallyQ: how much should it cost me to get this fitted approx?)
Genuine Honda fuel filter
UKDM cruise control ECU
Well, that's my quarterly update done! Very exciting I'm sure!
