PAW installed the ATR head. They stripped it down completely, replaced a couple of bent valves & had all the valve seats re-cut, re-ground the cams as there was some ware on them, gave the head a good boil to get all the gunk out & had it skimmed. They then built it back up and replaced all the seals and gaskets on then way.

I did look at swapping the components over, but with the need to swap the a7 springs in too as they're stiffer to cope with the bigger cams there wasn't much to be saved plus I then had a head which was factory ported & polished

A great 5G!! It must be nice to have that power and torque. The Tein Basics are a little on the soft side, but once the car is polybushed they become perfect.

The torque is awesome, it's so much better on the motorway with the 150lb/ft available from around 3000 rpm which was pretty much the peak value before

I was thinking about poly bushing down the line, the teins are JDM basics so they're harder than the UK spec basics (LLL's knowledge). Would the polybushing reduce the ware on the suspension components? I'm thinking most of the parts give out due to the rubber rotting away? How much would full bushing cost?

I didnt know there were two Tein Basic types. I have no idea on ware rates. The kit will cost around £150 but its the time and money to get them fitted thats the problem.

I didn't either, LLL has some knowledge. Apparently the JDM basics are more track orientation as their roads are better which does make some sense and these ones certiainly don't feel soft!

The rubbers are softer than the plastics and subsequently the rubber wares quicker (part of my job)

£150 isn't bad, bet it's a biatch of a job to do tho!

I found that while the full polybush made the car stiffer, it actually made it a little smoother/better damped.
I think it's just down to the suspension being isolated enough to do its job properly, rather than soggy old rubber taking up the first bit

You could do I suppose but it would be one hell of a kerfuffle taking the same bit off, on, off to get each part at a different time. Best do it all at once and get a wheel alignemt afterwards.

I thought about that too, but bascially in the end I had to bite the bullet.
It's just a shitty job full stop, and you really need a good few weapons at your disposal. Then it needs a geo anyway, so in the end I saved up, gave it to Rich and said 'sort that lot out'
