ABS ECU Compatibility

Post by eddy.little » Mon Jun 25, 2012 1:38 pm

Hi all, I have a 5th Gen (96/97) 2.2i SiR Type S and currently have a problem where the ABS light remains on. 2 lots of diagnostic testing has confirmed it's the ABS ECU (Part No 39790-S30-J31, donshigiken item is fitted).
I've found on the internet a used ABS ECU from a 2.2i SiR 1995 Prelude (so a Gen 4 I think). It's Part No 39790-S30-J01 (Nissin item). It looks a similar item on the internet pics. (I had contemplated just buying it and trial fitting to see if it solves my problem but I'm worried that may damage the rest of my electronics.)
Wiki says about the 5th Gen "The Type S had an Active Control ABS system, different from the others which had the standard ABS systems."

Does anyone know if I can replace the -J31 with the -J01?

I'd appreciate any advice please.

Eddy

There's a chap on here called Cebul who is breaking a type-s. He might have the exact part you need available!
