If you pump the brake with the engine off does the peddle firm up? and does it stay firm? ooo errr misses

Oh yeah, other than this the entire system works well. There is a little bit of play in the pedal though, i.e. once it's all pumped up you can press it in a (VERY) short distance, more like a tap, before it hits the firm bits (hur hur).

Had my Prelude 2 years & twice during normal town driving the brake pedal has suddenly
gone very long with hardly any stopping power
After a couple of pumps it's okay again.

Also after a track-day the pedal has a long travel, although I still have plenty of feel
whilst on-track. Initially I thought this was due to air in the system, but a couple of
days later the pedal always firms up again :!: :?:

I think it could be worn seals in the brake cylinder.

Could be your fluid on the track day heating up too much?

/\ If it was that then there would be air in the system & it wouldn't firm up again.

The boiling point may have dropped enough that hard braking is causing it to boil, then while there's no breaking it cools turning back to fluid and you have brakes again.

just to update

I finally did a complete brake fluid change and bled the brakes properly - big thanks to Merlin for helping me do this and supplying some castrol response super 4 brake fluid. It seems to have the done the job :D

Welcome to the land of the word filter  It's automatic.
