Heard back from Rich at PAW today...

Going to do an oil & filter change first, 5W/10W-50 and see how things hold up. There's a chance the oil could have overheated when it was running low as it was a 40 rating and has started the breakdown which could explain the low hot idle pressure. Nothing too scary yet :scaredtoss:

Will get this changed if it ever stops raining

Bit of a follow up, got the oil changed before the meet last week, now something else a bit strange seems to be happening

The pressure seems too high. Got all the old oil out with a vac pump through the dip stick, 4 3/4 L of it. Put 5 L of fresh oil back in with a new filter but the cold idle seems to be about 90psi and with warm to hot oil it can creep upto 100psi at the top of the rev range.

Do these numbers soo high? I put 0W-40 back in as I already had 4L of it

My cold idle is about 90 psi  but hot idle is about the same but it takes a good driving to get the temp up for that otherwise it's around 20-25psi

the 100psi peak is a bit scary, wasn't that high fromt he last change and it's exactly the same oil :?

Have you changes out the gauge yet? The values that h10ndr is getting are similar to mine.

Alex, sounds like nothing to worry about.

Honda state, when hot:
Idle 10psi minimum
3000rpm 50psi minimum

I checked my readings for you and when hot (80c)
Idle 30psi (although i set my idle a little higher)
3000rpm 80psi

My SPA gauge records peaks, and over the weekend I had a maximum oil pressure of 110psi at some point.
I set the alarm on my gauge to go off when below 20psi, which it never does.

Oh, when cold I think its about 80-90psi @idle

S300? Yeah I think that's probably my best option. Not sure yet how I go about sourcing one.

It's the hondata chip that allows for tuning as the honda chip cant be written over, if you know what your doing it can be done yourself.

If you give CPL racing a call, they're the UK distributor. You'd need a p28 ECU for it to be installed in but they're cheap enough on ebay. CPL can install to the ECU and test it for you too. Cost me about £500 for the hondata s300, install and p28 ECU.

Tunes can do good things with the s300, PAW often get around 20-30 bhp over stock chips OEM ATR cams. Got 43bhp over stock with mine but I did put ATR cams in instead of the a5 ones.

I'd love to see what they can tune out of your JUN setup!
