Isnt it a MOT fail having different branded tyres on the same axle

Since they're the bit that sticks the car to the road, the very idea of a budget tyre scares the crap out of me.

The spare of my X-1/9 had a remould on it. That went on the rear following a puncture and on the very next roundabout, I got the most massive drift. Ken Gushi would have approved.

It was promptly binned. The remould that is.

Cheap ass tyres are just not worth it. I will never ever buy budgets again. sick of being scared in the wet. Vredistein Ultracs are the best I have ever had and they are not a premium brand but they had more grip than the Toyo Proxies I had.

Stick to your guns man. Go with what you know and like. Cheap f+ckers cutting corners

I wouldn't say Maxxis are budget tyres!

Yes they're quite cheap but I found that they gave me similar performance to my Eagle F1s! This is going from 17" wheels (the Eagle F1s) to 15" wheels (the Maxxis tyres).

Maxxis was all I used when I had the 15s fitted. One of the garages was at said my HAMP oil filter was a budget filter and I should get something good on there

I had courier tyres on my seat gti, terrible tyres, but lasted couple of years

I'm selling the car but replaced with jinyu tyres

they are actually not that bad, softer than the god awful courier tyres

only best or best I can afford for the lude though

I would agree JayJay. I have always attempted to buy the best I can afford as it is your only contact with the black stuff. I usually do a good bit of research before purchase. I have run Vredestein Sessanta's, Toyo's, Conti's, Pirelli's on various cars and to be honest other than the Pirelli P Zero Nero's (deffo best I have had!) Maxxis has equalled or bettered them all! I have run Maxxis on my CTR, Saab Aero and now the Mazda and always been happy with the product. I certainly dont regard them as 'budget'. Considering I once ran Pirelli P6000's on my Saab (paid a fortune for them too) - I had a few frightening moments on these 'premium' tyres in the wet

Funny that. Pirelli have made the best and worst tyres I have experienced

the best i have ever had were the uniroyal rainsport 2 tyres. superb all round performance.
currently running on 195/45 16 yoko a539 and they certainly performed well on the drive out at lll's meet.

The tyre debate will roll on an on (excuse the pun). But actually, some of it's willy-waving. The point of the budget tyre is that it keeps the car moving when you're less than loaded. Which is what I was faced with.

I'm currently running ATR wheels with 215/45ZR17 Accelera Alpha all round. The dry grip is easily as good as the Falkens and Hankooks I've had before, and the recent rains brought no surprises. Wear looks to be pretty good, too, and road noise is on a par or quieter than previous tyres. Oh, and I paid just under £260 for four, fitted and balanced etc.

I also had the P6000's, before I tried the Maxxis tyres. Wouldn't use them again! My only problem is Maxxis don't do the tyre I want in the size I need
