Any computer wizards out there?

I've had a problem with my desk top for a bit now (windows 7 ultimate sp1 32 bit- intel core 2 quad cpu q8200 @2.33GHZ - 4GB RAM) . Every now and again it will just shut down; It just comes up with shutting down and then bloody does it. Now I have ran a memory checker - mem test 86 v4 and it doesn't find anything. I have also looked in the event log in event viewer and it comes up with this:

Not sure if this is an event log once I have re-booted, time is about when it happened.

Is there any way I can tell what caused the computer to shutdown? There must be an event log somewhere that i can look at that will be more helpful?

To me, that's sounds like it could be a virus, run full scans from malwarebytes and spybot and see what they come back with.

Because its shutting down would indicate a program somewhere is initiating the shutdown procedure, rather than a hardware problem which would just shut the machine off, or cause a BSOD.

Ok I'll run a full scan. I am using Macafee Internet security which is always updated. So I hope it is not a bloody virus!

My comp is of a similar spec, turns out the graphics card was over heating...

Make sure your tower isn't in an enclosed space so the fans can do their work properly, maybe take the side of the tower off, if it stops doing the thing = overheating was the problem.

Loads of people I know always had overheating issues with their Xbox cos they kept it in a TV cabinet or whatever (I know they shouldn't overheat regardless!) But mine is just on a tabletop and I've never had a problem, even when I fall asleep watching something and the DVD is in the thing spinning for hours on end.

I got to the conclusion as i had a memory parse error in the message, changed the ram and the only other thing with memory is the grapics card

Where was this error message displayed?

@Gorgon it is kept under the desk in an area designed for a desk top tower with plenty of room for air to circulate round so I don't think it is this, but you never know!
