Any computer wizards out there?

Banter goes here, and doesn't have to be Lude related

On the blue screen when it decides to crash. Found it quite inconsistent when it was crashing, fine for days then twice in an hour

Put some fans in the case, they are cheap and easy to fit. My old PC had a huge 30cm fan on the side, and 4 internal fans. So cold, it took a couple of attempts to turn on

Sounds like it could be a faulty power supply or over heating.

I'm with Gayno on this one. Sounds like a virus rather than a hardware fault due to the fact it runs the shutdown procedure and does not just crash.

I once had a virus which attacked the RPC and would give me a countdown to shutdown every time I connected to the internet. It was an absolute bugger to get rid of but a good anti-spyware/malware tool should sort it

I suppose you already tried "Safe Mode"?

Press WinKey+R (will pop the Run window) and then type "shutdown -A" to stop the automatic shutdown then open the Services (Run->services.msc) and then find the Remote Procedure Call service, go to Properties and modify the Recovery options from Restart the Computer to Restart the Service (something like this).

That rings a bell, I think there was more to it than that but I remember doing something like that to stop the countdown and the service to allow me to repair/remove the damaged file. This was years ago, on windows xp I think, so it won't be the same issue BMCC is having - but may be similar.

Another vote for overheating or faulty PSU.
