Any computer wizards out there?
Seems high but some CPUs just run a bit hot, should be ok. I use Speccy to get temps but it doesn't always like getting motherboard temps. It does sound like standard overheating (doesn't mean it is though!) . Just thought it might be worthwhile checking the temps of the other components.

Yeah might do that!honda-hardy wrote:f you want to check case temperatures then you could buy the items i have just fitted to my lude.
Booted the computer up and left it running on the BIOS screen for a few hours and it never switched off? Does this mean it is a software or virus problem rather than a hardware issue?
I also found the computer had booted itself up during the night. Now unless there is paranormal activity in house how does this fit in with the other symptoms? Does this mean it is a hardware issue?

That suggests a PSU fault. Try going into the BIOS and check anything with the word 'wake' or 'WOL'. Probably best to make sure that's all disabled. Also try disabling anything related to ACPI. Last thing to try before actually buying/replacing parts might be to do a full BIOS reset with the switch/jumper.BMCC wrote:I also found the computer had booted itself up during the night. AFAIK Wake on LAN is hardware based - it's supported by the NIC as opposed to the software installed.
