My fellow car nuts, some advice if you please..

Post by bb1boy » Thu Aug 23, 2012 10:28 am

Ok here's the deal, my mate and his Mrs are buying a new car. They want to start a family so 4 doors is preferential.. here's the scary bit, they want to buy a Ford Focus! They have circa £2.5k to spend.. I showed them this article: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-18973775 and I now need to recommend to them some suitable Jap motors..

So far I've come up with:

Honda Accord
Honda Civic Saloon
Toyota Avensis
Toyota Corolla

Can I have your input please, people? We have to save these good people from the lure of the ST170 (5door - gross)

Cheers

Give Nissan a wide berth, and have a look at the Mazda's too. The Mazda 3 is a Focus chassis but with Jap engineering on top - might be worth a look?

Nippy and very easy to extract extra power, 180bhp standard, just a remap sees an extra 20%

High mileage ones on their first turbo should be bought with an expectation of buying a replacement blower though
