no matey you can put in a 2ws rear subframe and disconect the 4ws that way but leaving the 4ws subframe there and just disconecting it is pretty dodgy

Pull the bulb and the relay for the pump. You need to keep the ecu to feed speed data to the 4ws ecu.

^^^ this. It will probably be a rear wheel speed sensor. Nearly always is. Simple fix with 2nd hand part.

Check to see if it is first man. Short the service connector, turn ignition to position two, and count the flashes on the 4ws bulb. Long flash = 10, short flash = 1.
