A starting price can be different from a reserve price, of course. But here, the starting price has been set at the lowest price she would take for it, £450. We are all agreed on this.

This has been done to avoid placing a reserve price, to avoid fees.

But 450 is in fact her reserve, the lowest she would take, she has just set her starting price as her reserve.

A real "no reserve" auction starts at £1, hence no "the lowest i will take for it"

Sorry for cluttering up your for sale thread Alison, i'm happy for the mods to delete all these comments, this should be in a seperate thread.

Quick sale :D

Btw starting price and reserve are different.

Reserved price is an unknown (to the buyer) price the auction has to meet, a starting price is just the price the auction starts at.

If you go a real auction the auctioneer will start at a price he sees reasonable and if no one bids will gradually drop the starting price until some bids with or without a reserve.

I know what starting price and reserve mean, she started the price at her reserve

You guys cant see past the dictinonary to realise you can use both as the same. I dont how many different ways to explain the same thing, the reserve price was used as the starting price. Why is that so difficult to understand?
