*JAPSPEED ISSUES* Rear Strut Brace. Anyone else?

Post by chrismc » Wed Sep 26, 2012 9:44 pm

Guys,

I recently purchased & attempted to fit a Japspeed REAR brace onto our UKDM BB1 4g.

Unfortunately the brace I received, was totally unfit for purpose. The problems I noted were as follows:

1. The strut top plates did not fit the turrets properly, resulting in the plates distorting and failing to sit flat when tightened.

2. The bar itself was too short meaning the end adjusters had to be wound to their outer limits to allow the bar to have a sufficient effective length. Surely a properly designed bar shouldnt even have end adjusters?

3. When fitted the bar therefore had excessive vertical deflection & wasnt "solid" between the turrets.

As such I reached the conclusion that it really wasnt achieving its desired purpose & contacted Japspeed to arrange a refund.

I took pictures of the issues, emailed them to Japspeed & returned the bar (hoping for a refund on my return postage) along with a detailed description of the issues.

After a week of waiting I chased up my refund, which then duly arrived (but no reimbursement for my postage).

I left neutral feedback on our favourite auction site (justifiably so) & today received a message from Japspeed. They have offered "a 10% discount on a future purchase" and "a pair of Japspeed gloves" by way of an apology, IF I remove the neutral feedback....

Isnt that bribery???

The reason I left the feedback I did was simply because the item didnt fit & was of poor quality- so it seems they are totally missing the point that the item they are selling isnt up to the job! They claim they have never had issues previously & "we were more than happy to receive the item back for a refund" :o

Has anyone else ever seen/tried one & got any feedback?

Id really like to persue the matter with them so it doesnt get palmed off, so the experiences of any other owners (both good & bad) would be of use.

cheers

japspeed have issues all the time, as all their parts are made in china same as other ebay parts, i personally receive one of their exhaust once mark on box as made in china.

Mine is a 4ws, but the ECU has already been relocated to the floor (but will be removed completely when i fit my 2ws conversion)

Rear of the car is totally stripped out!

Nothing of japspeed ever fits, and most of their cheap jobby is made in China. They are trying to bribe you, I would of left negative feedback. Don't accept what they are offering, you've bought something that doesn't fit, and isnt fit for purpose, under the sale of goods act, they have to refund you. Tell them you are having a refund, or trading standards will be involved. If this doesn't resolve the issue, contact trading standards.

Yes I'd hold fire.

I phoned & spoke to their sales manager today regarding the issues with my brace & how unimpressed I was at the offer of a discount/free gloves IF I removed the neutral feedback. :?

He agreed to refund my return postage which was good- & said they would look at fitment & quality issues and forward me an improved item to try FOC as & when this happens...

As such I agreed to remove the neutral feedback when a suitable conclusion is reached.

I'm not holding my breath- but we shall see how seriously they take customer service in due course. Fingers crossed!

Glad to hear it. Sounds like they are at least prepared to listen to criticism from unhappy customers with a view to correcting the issues. As you say... it will depend on what they come up with.
