Good luck with your search, as already said....go for a 1999+ with a H22a8 engine, as it has slightly more power.

Considering bidding on this, depending on what it gets up to -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330802460893? ... 357wt_1397

Would be buying blind though, can't make it down to Brum before the auction end. Any thoughts? It does have a couple of modifications, but nothing that would make the insurance too crazy or couldn't be replaced with stock parts. Fired off a few questions and got the following info-
Hi Tom,

No apologies for all the questions!

I too had been on the lookout for a really clean 5th Gen back in summer '08, and after looking at loads and not finding one clean enough I started to think I need to save more for an Integra Type R.. and then this one popped up in totally mint condition with 62k on the clock and I bought it! It has never once let me or my mum down since that day, and even now when I took it to work and back last week it still feels as tight and direct as the day I bought it.

Ok, so to answer your questions;

1. Other than the induction kit and exhaust, the car has not been modified in any way.

2. Unfortunately I don't have the standard parts any more. I moved house after selling the car to my mum in Jan 2010 and the induction pipe got lost in the move. The exhaust was replaced because the old one was past its best.

3. MOTs. Most recent one @ 106,382mls had an advisory for a nail in NSR tyre. This was repaired at Kwik Fit
The MOT previous to that @ 101,286mls had an advisory for 'slight play in NSF upper suspension arm ball joint. This was replaced along with the anti-roll bar. And the one before that @ 94,055mls had no advisories. Got all the old MOTs going back to 2004.

4. Timing belt was last changed in Nov 2008 @ 67k but I've lost the receipt :(
I still have the receipt for the one before it which was done on 7th Sept '04 @ 42502mls

5. Rust. There are no rust patches anywhere on the bodywork. It really is that clean, but not artificially if you know what I mean - it hasn't had a respray in it's life that I am aware of and does look just very clean for its age. Sure, there may very well be a stone chip or fleck of tar here and there.. this is a 14yr old car that is used on the road and not been sat in a laboratory!

6. Never had any problems with any gears, on VTEC or not, whether cold or hot. Is sycros from 4th to 5th on VTEC a known problem on these?

7. No warning lights at all, and no electrical oddities.

Sounds like a decent chap, if you do get to see it check the engine stamp thingy. Mine is an S reg, was advertised as a 1998 but was in fact a very early 99 and had the H22A8 engine :)

Its always a bit risky buying a car blind - though a risk i have taken on a few occasions. Looking at his feedback he does seem a genuine guy and the 'Lude looks nice and tidy. I guess its just a matter of what the auction goes up to to decide if its a risk worth taking.
Good luck!

Amazing. Will keep on eye on this thread, and in the mean time ask the seller when he's free on Saturday/Sunday morning.
