but JJ you dont live in the usa mate.... you could be thinking about a UK meltdown and get yourself a crossbow ???? otherwise you will be a target to anyone with the energy to find your bolthole. ranged weapons are great while you have things to throw at the encroaching bad people but after that it comes down to sticking a knife into someone if thats what they want to do to you.

land pirates are a real threat even now!

the usa has a lot more issues to deal with as it has all the guns. there will be a lot less of them very soon for sure. we would have a much harder time of it as we have sooo many more people per sq mile of land.

Ok, so UK plan then :) Get a shotgun and stockpile shells - get a mate to do the same. Also get stab vests, medical supplies, blankets, provisions and water bottles. Store everything in 2 large trucks or vans that could be sorned awaiting to day of reckoning. When the time comes, drove them both down Newhaven sea wall (it's about a mile long) and move all supplies into the light house. Work in 4 hour shifts watching the sea wall for threats, shoot anyone who gets close. Plan :D

great. so now all you need to do is do it. you might have an issue persuading the police that your SGL is neccesary on an ongoing basis though. they do like to ask if your using it quite often.

otherwise good luck mate. i would begin quite soon as thats quite a list. :D

just the three days food and water is a start. one that 99.9% of people have not got. one good terrorist attack on an oil port/depot and the shelves would empty damn fast. thats when you get gang's going from house to house taking what they want. this is a daily thing in africa. the only thing seperating us from that is a constant supply of oil.

I used to go clay shooting regularly as a family friend owns a range in a nearby village, so no worries there. Newhaven also has a WW2 fort on the cliffs, if you could get a big enough group to start prepping you could probably hold that place against a proper jobby storm. Look up Newhaven fort lol, we can all convene there when the time comes 8-)

Tbh though, I'd rather sort out the dents in my car than spend on preparing for the apocalypse right now though

I had a power cut at the weekend, almost went mad

it did kill my tumble dryer

some of the usa people are just gun nuts or gun collectors if you ask me

I have 2 huge swords things, big house m8, and no kids to worry about. apart from that I could see myself being quite vulnerable..

Thanks, but it's not down to any skills or good planning, it's just how we live...

We have tons of food in the cupboards, fridge/freezer all the time and fruit/veg growing in the garden. Plus ingredients to make stuff, as well as all the camping gear we've got.

We'd only need 50l petrol to get to my Auntie's croft house. We always have at least that much fuel sitting in one of our cars and I have a jerry can of dirty old fuel from when I replaced the fuel tank on my old civic.

If push came to shove and we got stuck on the way I'd cycle and/or walk then use my trusty dinghy to get over to the isle if the ferryman wouldn't take us.

Out of interest what is the shelf life of water in sealed bottles, and fuel in jerry cans? How often would we need to replace our stocks to ensure we didn't crack open bottles of stagnant water when we're dying of thirst?

21/12 is a load of bollocks, my lad did explain it all to me, but it is to do with calenders and leap years and so on, 21/12/2012 actually happened years back according to the Mayans.
