@dino: just for anything that's not in the normal daytoday getting by. be it hurricane takes out power grid for three days or the dead rise and want to eat your brains for all time. any kind of prep is better than wondering why you didnt think of it sooner when your cold, hungry and about to get man raped.
@rich: your a prepper and you dont even know it
you store supplies and have access to other food stuffs than tesco's shelves. you also have knowledge on how to produce your own food. this is more than most people think about. well done matey
@vtecmec: hmm, im not sure a civilisation that was owning a continent and building cities with hundreds of thousands of citizens and hundreds of artisans and performers when our forefathers were grubbing about in caves and that produced one of the most startlingly complex mathematics available, even today and that could predict the movements of the heavens thousands of years into the past or future with almost perfect accuracy could be called totally cluless but im willing to listen to any well formed arguments......
they also worked out the earth orbited the sun a few thousand years before aristotle but I see what you mean
damn savages.

the mayans are a bloody good example of what i am talking about.
they had a massively complex and costly civilisation that became too big and resource hungry to support itself. Too many priests and bureacrettins at the top and not enough food at the bottom.
It collapsed and millions died.
The mayans you see today? They are the generations removed sons and daughters of Historical Mayan preppers
those who saw it coming, got some stuff together and bugged the funk out when the cacky hit the fan.
I fancy being one of the future procreators not fertilizer.
@judderod: YOU! GET OUT OF THE GENE POOL, NOW! no time for quitters
jk

I have a recurve bow and many arrows!
Hand to hand I'm likely to come off worse, I'm fairly miniature and despite many years of boxing/kickboxing it doesn't teach you how to fight really...
BUT! As LLL has said, people need medics etc and I like to think my understanding of pharmaceuticals/biomedical solutions is probably so healthy it could be unhealthy for the wrong people
I can run for ages as well!
