Is anyone else a prepper here?

Banter goes here, and doesn't have to be Lude related

I was discussing with Phil yesterday how much stuff I have during my recent move. All my clothes fit
Into one suitcase and apart from that I just had two other boxes, but that was only sentimental stuff so I'll be good to go in 5 minutes

^^^ wild boar is tasty too ;) don't forget seafood. The fish eaters will do best.

Sounds like a lot of scaremongering to me (hence I don't think it will ever get that bad and I won't end up dedid)!

We're one of the most developed and poweful countries in the world and are in bed with some other big powerful allies. We have a lot to offer poorer countries in the event of nationwide hardship. The world have become so globalised that money motivates almost everyone and anyone anywhere to supply us and each other with whatever it is we might need. Humanity as a whole is working together better than ever in history and AFAIK despite the economic gloom, more money is given to charity year on year.

Unless there was an event that knocked several countries out within just a few days, I think we'd all just work together to sort things out. After all isn't that what makes us developed.

What's going on in Greece then? And Africa? Sorry to generalise but all that Live Aid jobby year after year and where are they? Still reproducing, spreading disease and essentially being stupid in almost every aspect of their life.

We need dogs too for antiseptic, and domestic dog won't be a problem to man. Soviet experiments proved that the domestication of Silver foxes begins just 8 generations in. A breed that's been domesticated for thousand of years will not survive long term without us.

I don't know, what is going on in Greece? (Really I don't pay much attention to the news)

But are they seriously murdering and raping each other, have no water or food and are dying of starvation and disease? Even if that's happening, are the ones who prepped doing any better than the ones who didn't?

If so then I guess I better shut up ;)

its not scaremongering matey we will see how civilised and developed we are when the electricity fails doesnt matter how global we are then your on your own there will be a semblance of order ie govt trying to keep you in your home or packed together in camps until they a) get everything back together or B) collapse entirely into bands of land pirates with work camps of slaves to utilise

I see where you're coming from, Greece isnt in total meltdown, but the amount of rioting and poverty that is evident daily is a bit alarming, and that's just through lack of money. If the world can't help Africa with basic needs, how will the richer countries sustain eachother?

I'm by no means prepped for worst case scenarios, but as Merc said, knowledge is king, keeping it to yourself is probably smart. Doctors will likely become some of the first 'hostages'. Of course this is all theoretical, bit I'm sure we've all seen a few movies that probably depict what will happen fairly well albeit a little exaggerated.

The second option is already in place, unless you're a millionaire!

There's no harm in prepping. I'm sure it's good fun and pretty reassuring. I just don't like scaremongering.
