Water Ingress

Post by indigolemon » Sun Oct 14, 2012 6:22 pm

Lo chaps. I have water entering the cabin of my Prelude. It's dripping from the rear headlining onto the passenger back seat. I know it's not the rear washer jet, that's sealed and dry. The drain pipes from the sunroof don't seem damp either.

I'm at a bit of a loss, what else can I check??

The sunroof drain (what the drain pipes are attached to) could be corroded. Which is a sunroof out job to check!!!

I was hoping no-one would say something like that!

sunroof out is quite easy just make a note of where the packers come from so you can replace them in the same place and quantity.

once the headlining is down you could just put a hosepipe over the car while you sit inside

If it's shot, a good excuse to swap it for a 5th gen sunroof.

ive got some shims for the sunroof - you could try fitting them first and see if this gives you a better seal

I actually have a mint condition 4G sunroof with the full mechanism in storage, it's black though. This might be the kick I needed to sort out getting it sprayed and fitted!

Cheers Nick, just can't believe I've driven so many miles in it over the last three weeks, and it chooses to do this while parked up on a lazy Sunday!
