What Merc said above, it goes into 'failsafe' mode so you can granny the car to a garage - it doesn't lock up solid as people seem to think. The Locking pin is not strong enough to hold the system solid for road use, only for setup on ramps. If the 4WS is working, I'd leave it be - IMO it makes the car a heck of a lot nicer to drive!
kris_aka_edu wrote:Mines an import would you be able to find out how much a chip would be for me for top end and how would I be able to go about fitting it?
Rob supplies you with a chip and a socket for £20 delivered. For fitting it, you have a few options. If you know anyone with soldering skills, and you trust them with your ECU, you could give it to them. From Rob's thread:
nucleustylzlude wrote:If you do not have the desoldering and soldering skills necessary to do the job I suggest finding a local TV/Hi-fi repair shop/man to do the job for you. For someone with the right skills it’s not a big or long job, which shouldn’t cost very much. I personally would recommend speaking with Craig at Got Boost Tuning (http://www.gotboost.co.uk). For the additional cost of the postage you’ll know it’s in safe hands.

Ebay man, I've yet to try it but a 2 or 2.2ohm resistor is what you want. Usually something like 99p for 10.

Still hunting for the clear drivers side end reflector though.

Oh and I'm also looking for a cheap steering wheel for the hub I bought :)

When you get the car you need to see if the 4WS bulb illuminates @ position I on the ingnition and then goes off once the einge is started. If the 4WS bulb doesnt come on at all or stays on when the engine is on you need to try and see what the problem is.

If the 4WS is FUBAR the only way to convert to 2WS is to buy a rear subrame from a 2WS car along with the rear toe arms and swap it over.

I have 4th gen 2ws suffrage with polished lower arms and new bolts.
Lower arms are the same between the two models and I believe the sub frames are the same.

That'll be me bud.

They're £20 delivered and all you need to do is Paypal me the money to: wobwyatt@hotmail.com, then PM me that you've paid. I'll then get it in the post as soon as I can. :D

Let me know if you want one.

Cheers,

Rob

Picked up the car today, and started work straight away..

Tried to sort out the sump leak, will need to find another manifold due to the exhaust bolts being in really tight. So now looking for an after market manifold.

Painted the window wiper arms as they was rusty, so now back to black.

I've ordered a hub, and a steering while which is a deep dish wheel with the material wheel. So got room to use the stalks. I've also ordered the 2.2ohm resistor off e-bay. Was more expensive than suggested!

I've also had to order a new Power steering belt as it looks dangerous.

The 4ws steer light comes on now and again, but if I turn it off while the car is in motion and turn it back on again the light goes off...

I'll send 20 notes to you Rob, but you got to tell me how to fit the thing! I've been working with a mechanic today, so when I say I did it. I just did a few things I could help with.

Got another question too...

The Passengers door was broken in to, well they tried doing it with a screw driver but failed. However the door only opens on the inside and not the outside. I think they might have stretched one of the rods that unlocks the lock. If that makes sense?! Any idea how this can be fixed?

The car has a thatcham alarm on it so its got the full closure alarm. :)

Oh, and I've also ordered two of the clear reflectors, as one was missing too. I got both for a 10er from a breaker off ebay. Jheez, this is going to take a while to fix up, but it's my little project, thats what they all seem to be now!
