It's an extremely well designed DAC that uses the same chip as some very high end hifi gear. It also uses some of the latest technology to remove jitter (digital input errors from the source/PC/cd player). I basically built this to see if I liked the sound of the chip before deciding on which home cinema surround processor I wanted. One came up on eBay a few months ago and this has just sat around ever since. To give you an idea of the sound quality, I've replaced it with something that currently retails at £4K, yet this little DAC easily sounds as good, if not a little better.
If you have a decent front end (amp & speakers), and lossless audio, there isn't really any better way to turn your digital into analoge on the planet at the moment. It will absolutely crap all over ANY soundcard, even £500+ professional multi I/O cards.

The Gamma 1 full++ is from GlassJarAudio.com, and the parts for the Gamma 2 were sourced as per their recommendations.
It uses the WM8741GEDS/V DAC, an OPA2365AID opamp, and “nichicon MUSE” ES acoustic series audio grade caps.
The front and rear plates are DIY, with the markings pressed on by heat transfer (far from perfect). Personally I was more concerned with listening to it than looking at it! They can easily be swapped with engraved replacements from the AMB audio shop should you prefer.
