very nice - just make sure your pal doesnt bust the tracks on the circuit board when he takes the old chip out. youve got to snip the pins off the old chip and then desolder them and use a solder sucker to remove the bits of the pins in the board.
i took mine to a friend who had 25 years experience in repairing pcs and laptops - it turned out to be a bad move-when i refitted the ecu it didnt work - i took it back to him and he checked it again and said he could see no problem - so i eventually got some help from @bluejackhustler who found three broken tracks on the board and fixed them. i cant stress how brittle these boards are and how fragile the tracks are-bear in mind their nearly 20 years old. If i were you i would send your ecu to him-Andys a good bloke and more than happy to help.
