Banter goes here, and doesn't have to be Lude related

ATR purchase (maybe)

Post by NCCMUR » Sun Oct 28, 2012 12:07 pm

hi lads

i have the chance to get a 51 plate facelift model ATR

car has only 1 owner 67k miles in milano red

plus side: as above H22 A7  and i could get it for £2000 :D

minus side: car has been written off by the insurance company i cant remember if its cat c or cat d anyway it was classed as "uneconomical repair"
the car originally came to my work to get repaired ,a dispute arose with the owner and the insurance over excess etc(wasnt his fault someone ran into him) and the guy who bought it off him repaired it and it has now been VOSA checked everything is fine.
TBH the damage was minimal, new rear bumper quarter and bootlid were damaged front bumper and wing, nothing structural.
i've seen much worse getting fixed.

the fact it was written off doesnt bother me in the slightest however im torn because i would have to sell the lude  cant possibly keep the two of them unfortunately.

so any comments/suggestions welcome

what do you guys think ??

I'm confused, the ATR your looking to buy is written off?

Keep the prelude. :)

written off as far as the insurance company is concerned but still roadworthy

if you had fixed your SiR yourself and put it back on the road it would be the same scenario.

I am biased, but I would keep a 'lude.
The fact that the ATR has an insurance total loss against it might make it difficult to move on if you decided to sell.

yeah thats my problem andy

i would realistically need to keep the ATR till it died ,resale value diminished because of the total loss, thats why i would get it for £2k
however i would get many years use out of it being so low mileage

if it has been written off dont give him 2k start negotiations at 1k,

engine + gearbox transplant
brake upgrade
seats upgrade steering wheel upgrade

brake the rest of the car for parts and you have those above for free :D

2 Bag sounds a LOT for a written-off Accord(ion).

With a higher CG and no 4WS, it ain't gonna drive like no 'Lude.

I was going to say £2k is maybe a bit on the high side - ive seen them sell for £1200-£1600 - mind u some of them i have seen go for that money have had clutch/gearbox issues. Youve seen the car so your in the best place to judge the price. If its cat D and its been well repaired then maybe £2k isnt too bad.

This is also an option
