My house was broken into last night :-(

That sucks mate, happened to me a few years ago. jobby like this always comes around in the run up to Xmas!

Could be a silver lining tho bud, I'm sure your laptop was one of these wasn't it?

sorry to hear this rob make sure you get the house belled up as they now know what you have in the house get a cctv camera trained on the drive or road as they might come back with a car to collect stuff?

I think you'll be serprised how often robbers come back to take more things so get the alarm done ASAP, not that most people take any notice of them?

Security lights and sensors setting off dog barks could work very well!

To show how dumb cops can be, my dad saw 2 guys breaking into a new estate being built and phoned police, the guys were collecting together copper and took their time. The police turned up after 10 mins and all 4 of them went straight to the back door they had broken into.
The robbers ran out the front door and got away!!

You'd think by now covering all exits would be standard procedure?

Get an alarm ASAP as they might come back within a short period of time. They'll expect you to claim on the insurance and get new stuff for them to nick. F~ckers!

If you've got a gate at the back of your house put a pad lock on it. If you can get a security light then all the better, just make sure it is up high enough so that they can't get to it. All you can do is make it so that there are easier targets in the area. Yours needs to be a git to get into to force them to try and have a go at someone else.
