H22 polo first start help..

Post by Danni22 » Fri Dec 21, 2012 1:43 pm

Ok so iv came to start it for the first time and nothing :(

No dash lights nothing at all, not even if I bypass the switch panel,

Iv checked all the earths they are fine, all the engine wiring fine,

I think it could the the fact iv moved the battery to the boot and no longer have the power connected to the fuesbox under the bonnet but I didn't think that would be an issue as the battery cable is connected to it and the other original cable is.

No power seams to be getting to the thick white wire on the starter switch

Could the extra white wire I have be that??

Hey man, thick white wire is the constant feed from the battery. I think you need to make sure you have a battery live going in where it needs to, or you're not going to get anywhere here.

need to work out what the bottom contact is on the right (would be the front left one in a prelude). Pretty sure that's a constant feed from the battery - but can check when I head out to the car later.

1) Should be the power feed from the battery. In this case as your battery cable goes to the starter, the cable from starter should connect here.

2) There should be a massive fuse here.

3) This is the thick white wire that feeds to the ignition barrel. Without the fuse at number 2, you will get no power down this wire - this is why you are getting no dash lights, nothing.

Actually, you may be correct.

Looking at it there should be another cable next to the cable I've labelled 1)......where is this?

Iv re arranged some wires and I now get dash lights ( warning lights ) when I connect the thick white and black/yellow..

What are what wires for and what do I do with these

Or do I just leave them alone

Iv got dash lights/warning lights

no drivers side high / low beam
No passanger side low beam
No rear fog light

No start up yet but think that is due to me trying the wrong wires

:/

Dash is coming back out to chase wiring and won't go back in until its started up
