Sorry if I missed this at some point, you've done some great work!

Did you use a paint gun and compressor to do the painting or was that rattle canned?

Paint gun only of course. And yes HVLP guns used. Paint guns have come along way in technology.

Rattle can and bodyshop finish

No I binned then. Most of the clips had snapped on the plastic, the plastic was seriously water damaged and wet sanding wouldn't even remove the stains.

Today was Rolling arches day but it didnt go to plan. I planned to roll all 4 arches in Prep for 17x9 wheels.

Iv got hold of Cebuls arch roller.

Image

Heatgun the arch to 60degrees and get pulling. The roller doesnt not roll so im going to tweak it with tape next time but no matter what you do the paint cracks. Its inevitable in the words of Spock.
I rolled them until it was flat, the OEM clips for the linning wont work not but ill use cable ties.

Anyway since the paint started cracking i though ill just go ahead and respray the panel since it needs doing anyway along with the doors and rear arches.

So

I had some strange blemishes on the arch and after sanding them back it was rust under the paint from a previous bodyshop job.
See not all bodyshops are good.

Also a slight dent

Put some etchweld primer on the bare metal and around the inner rolled lip and then a 2 pack high build primer.
Image

All sprayed up but ran out of daylight but let the panel cure with the heatlamps.
Image

Anyway i will wet sand it completely flat and polish it tomorrow

Here you can see the rolled lip. Notice its a little wavey but im not too fussed. I also gave the middle section a slight pull or a push with the arch roller.

But anyway all rust and bare metal is sealed.

Going to do the other arch in due course. Then take the bonnet off and spray that.
The the doors and wing mirrors.
The rolle the rear arches and respray the quarters/pillars.

Then done. Roof wont need spraying as its perfect and you can see a colour difference as its a sun facing panel separated with windows and black trim.
