why whould the atr be better than the type s one nitin?

If you do decide to try recurve, definitely get measured up at a shop first, they come in different sizes for a good reason. The riser (actual handle, not the limbs) tend to come in at least 23" and 25" sizes, depending on your height etc.
Yes, people buy 'blind' all of the time, but they more often than not end up ebaying it and buying again.
Seen it at the club so many times.
