Tein rear coilovers.....**Update**

Post by Nik_L » Sat Jan 19, 2013 11:16 am

I have a pair of these, for a 5G. 1 deffo in need of a re-furb, the other, not sure but can check when removed.

Now, would it make sense to get the banging 1 refurbed, or sell them as is?? Would they be worth anything in there current state?? They will be free'd off etc.

How much to get it/them refurbed?? Or what will they be worth the way they are??

A set of rears you'll probably struggle to sell on there own, even more so if they need a refurb

refurb will cost almost as much as buying a new one i think years ago on puk someone was looking at selling a set in need of a refurb and checked it out with tein might be ok to someone as spares

Quick google
They told me servicing, when coilovers are knocking, is just 120pounds each

£120 a corner isn't bad if its the correct price, my teins cost £1400 new

it all depends which teins they are to be honest. i would imagine the price would vary between different models. wouldn't be worth getting a set of basic dampers refurbed at 120 a corner.

They are just the Tein Basic's. Height adjustable only.

If it was just the 1 that needed refurbed, i would probably still want them both done for peace of mind, which would as you say, not be worth it.

As coilovers go, im not a massive fan of them, much prefer a matched spring and shock combo. Ive just never had faith in them with the state of the roads these days.

What would they be worth as spares?? Maybe to some1 else who has a knocking rear shock and only needs 1 or to some1 who might see the value in them and wants to spend some money on a refurb lol. £50??

So, todays job was to have a look at the fronts.

Turns out the N/S/F only has 1 adjuster ring on it, no locking ring.

And the O/S/F has both rings, of which are both cracked. Nightmare.

Going from how easy they were to snap off, im surprised the car never ended up in a very bad situation on the road.

So what diameter of adjuster rings will i need??

i don't know what size they are but you can order them through a tein dealer. If you tell them which coilovers they are they should be able to get you the right ones :)
