Hey, i'm not having a go at 4WS. Its a great bit of kit. But, It does weigh a ton and track usage normally begins with weight saving. For the normal roads its cool but I found it less predictable than the S. But I suppose there is a reason for that

The best bit about 4WS is kids stopping and staring as you reverse park into a tiny space in one move. They goggle eye at wheels, the car and then at you like its james bond or something. For this alone its worth it

Many people who get into ludes buy 4WS models, get more serious about the car and swap over the rear assembly for a 2WS system. For this reason I stand by what I said but I am not poking 4WS. It was 4ws that made me wonder how good ATTS could be and I'v had three type S since then so it must have done something right!

I can't park my Civic anymore because of this

It takes me 3-4 goes now.

schumacher & patrese tested this on benetton f1 car, they came up with its wierd

but lap times were the same, so the benefits were probably outweighed by the extra weight

dunno go with what your prefer I say

Back on topic...the Prelide is fine as a daily driver. I used use mine for work as a field engineer driving between sites all day. But then I wasnt paying for petrol.

I get around 30 mpg on average over a full tank.

Great feedback everyone, many thanks for the replies. Alot taken onboard.

Prelude perfectly suitable as a daily car... providing you have a deep enough wallet to keep filling it up

- or ideally work just a few miles from home! I might end up turning it into a bit of a project, in which case, would like to save it for weekends/special trips etc. Although will be my primary ride initially.

Have read quite a bit on the 4WS system. Is this a standard feature on certain 5th Gen models?

Still cant get around £2K for one of these cars. Suppose alot comes down to age plus depreciation.
If you look at other brands, Ford, VW, BMW, etc you get virtually nothing for £2K. But a mint Prelude is money VERY well spent !!

All UK 2.2 VTEC's be it 4th or 5th gen have 4WS from the factory. Some Japanese version have the option to have it. If you need more info have aread of this http://www.ludegeneration.co.uk/honda-p ... -t720.html

So what sort of mileage are you all getting from a full tank?

What might be the main "issues" that could crop up buying second hand these days?
I know to look for a manual car if possible, as the automatic gearbox has its weaknesses.

Suppose also ensuring the usual cambelt/servicing has been kept up to date in the service book - a good sign of a mechanically tidy car. I've read about the sticking Caliper issues also.

Dont want to find I have a big repair bill to deal with, a week after buying one (5th gen).
