I didn't realise my Golf had 2 separate air inlets, and as a result of this oversight of mine unfiltered air was getting into the engine for a while

Didn't run any differently, or explode

wouldn't recommend it though!!

Out of interest, why are the brand name long ram kits better than if I just used identical diameter mandrel bent tubing and insulated it from heat??

And apologies in advance if I've just opened the door on a total jobby storm with that question

i really dont see how they would be any different mate. brand whoring i guess, only wankers buy stuff for the name

although i guess the filters themselves are made of better materials and more durable

DDoubledanny has "4th gen parts" he has a K&N one for 25 quid and a Viper one further down the listing for 50 quid

both would have gone straight on yours

There is also these standard cone filters which are slimar than the normal ones! Why? Ireally dont have a clue do i.....

Dbo didnt think of doing that-epic fail again....

cone filters have alot more surface area than most standard paper pannel filters so physical size in that respect isnt much to go by
