@vanzep, tried what your suggested.... Some Holts cold start spray into the intake and it fired instantly, car had been sat for 2 weeks - it was amazing! What do you suggest next? Glad your getting somewhere with yours mate.

I refitted the original throttle body today and bled the coolant and all seems to be ok although it did surge a couple of times on the drive home but it did then settle pretty quickly.
Will see how it starts up tomorrow from cold.
I might try dropping the idle speed a bit as its sitting at around 1000rpm.This is where i set it a month or so ago so going to lower it back to around 750-850rpm.

Next up is to look at the vaccum system again & test fuel pressure regulator & check valve :P

Its so close to being perfect i can smell it :)

@arif_manji if your lude is starting up with a quick spray of holts cold start then there is nothing major wrong with the car. Id start by cleaning the iac valve and making sure the gasket is ok and it sealing when bolted down and then id test the fitv as shown in the post above. Also get a can of carb cleaner and clean out the intake mani. See how that goes.

@vanzep thanks mate. The car is due back at Vtec Direct due to other issues they have failed to fix, maybe 10th time lucky, I won't hold my breath. I'll get them to look at this issue to which they have failed to fix numerous times.

After all this faffing around Ive got it starting on 2nd crank from cold in the morning which is a definate improvement.
Ive resealed the gasket on the backbox so there is no blow - will see how long this repair lasts.
Also reset the idle to exactly 750rpm.
So part of the problem was a leak in the fitv coupled with a slightly low idle. Both issues now fixed.
so it seems as with my BB4 it was number of little things that needed sorted rather than one big issue.
I might clean out the egr valve at some point and thats it job done :)
Car is running nicely just in time for the MOT which is just over a week away.
