Random Clouds of Smog

Post by GOONIESnvrSAYdie » Tue Jul 29, 2014 2:56 pm

So the last couple of days my car has started, at random intervals, coughing up clouds of dark smoke. I just drove the misses from my work to her house, a 5 minute drive, the car was cold, no Vtec used, no chance either on the drive up the hills. When I stopped on her road it started bellowing out for 5-10 seconds then nothing. When I stopped at the drive I revved the engine to see if more would come but nothing.

I checked the oil Sunday and the levels were perfect and the oil still clean, only put in a couple of months back. I've messaged my mechanic mate to ask him to have a look over it, I just thought I'd see if it's a common fault and there maybe an easy route cause?

I have noticed recently the car seems to take longer to start up, an extra couple of seconds on the normal instant fire up.. Any connection? Or is that a separate fault entirely? Ha.

This is all sounding a bit dizzy related to me.
Black is usually unburnt fuel. That and the longer to start up issue.... :?:

I didn't know the Lude had an EGR. Learn something new every day :)

I'll give that a clean out and see how it gets on.
