balance shaft belt removal

Post by jasonxr2racer » Sun Jan 04, 2015 8:52 pm

Is it ok just to remove the balance shaft belt and leave the shafts inside?

I'm not doing a bottom end re-build on my engine just fitting Accord Type r top end and inlet.

I know you can remove them but will do this next season

I did for a good few years. With a track day and a ring trip with no drama. Not ideal as they are there for a reason. I've never seen proof that it affects the motor adversely but I could be wrong

Same. Had my belt off and shafts in for a while now as the front shaft had excessive end float. It will be fine. ;) :D

We did it to the ATR last year when the balancer shaft bearing started to squeal a bit.
Apparently, dyno tests have shown that it gives you another 3bhp ... I haven't noticed.

Can you notice in any way it's been removed?

I guessed something wouldn't enjoy it.
