thanks for the advice. I had a Google around and it would seem that the n01 indicates that its a manual ecu for a non-specific market, or its factory reprogrammed. whatever that means. I will unhook the auto box and bridge the appropriate connections to sort my reverse lights, and with a bit of luck it will magically cure my 4ws issues.

thanks for all the help in this thread!

Well i bridged the power connections to remove the auto box today and unfortunately it made no difference to the 4ws.

I noticed a few other plugs that werent connected to anything, but no idea what they are. is the 4ws connect to the auto gear box at all?

4ws is totally separate from the engine ECU.

The ECU for the 4ws is in the boot. Have you shorted the service connector and got the error codes?

I cant get any error codes. when i short the connector the light comes on and goes off straight away. i thought i managed to get some codes at one point but couldnt make head nor tail of them. there is a video of them in my other thread.
I tried the holding the wheel at certain angles reset thing and it seemed like there was a loose connection as it would start blinking when i turned the wheel to the left, and go out when i turned right. its all detailed in my other thread about pulling to the left you were helping me out with.

Cant work it out.

Ah well, at least i can get the reverse lights working, small victories and all that!
