Clutch change and now issues

Post by Teddy78692110 » Sat Jun 21, 2014 11:51 pm

Hi I'm new to this forum so bare with me if I get things twisted

I've got a jdm bb4 with a h22a2 in it. I don't know the gearbox code but I'm assuming it's the LSD gear box.

Anyways I've just had the clutch changed ( the last one was much better) and it's a cheap one from ADL for 126£ and since I've had it changed the check engine light has been on and the vtec doesn't engage and the rev limit is at around 6700 rpm where as before it was at 8400 rpm!!

This is really pissing me off. The mechanic doesn't really know what's happened and he's told me to bring the car back on Monday and he will try to sort it. He also said that he only removed the started motor and removed the air induction. I have also been told by someone that there is a sensor or wire behind the induction which could be the issue but also the vtec solenoid in the transmission may be the issue.

Can anyone help me please and give me some info on what it could be. I'll upload so,e pics of my car soon it is really a fast machine.

Thanks and please help me out!

It sounds like he's unplugged something during disassembly, which he's missed when putting it back together.

You could use the paperclip test to check the CEL code and this will tell you what the problem is.

Also, FWIW, I've used ADL Blueprint clutches before and have been good for the price.

I'm just trying to find the thread.

Basically behind the stereo/drivers footwell there is a blue connector which is used for diagnostics, if you use a paper clip to short out the terminals, it flashes the error code using the CEL on the dash. You then count the flashes and use the reference chart to see what component is throwing the error.

Yep sounds like something hasnt been plugged back in. Nothing you can do but take it back - hopefully it can be traced quickly.
You should read up on the paperclip test as it means you will be able to your own diagnostic.(doh beaten to it  )
If its a BB4 you have it should have the H22A1 (197bhp) engine - The H22A2 is the engine from UK preludes (185bhp).

Oh I c. I just googled it and found it. But if u could source a chart that would be helpful. Also if I reset the ecu would it remove the chip that brings the rev limit to 8400 rpm
