So it's been a while since my last update.
I've been enjoying the sights and sounds of New York City.
Well worth a visit if you've never been. 8-)

Anyway, here are a couple of snaps from before I went.
New steering wheel all fitted.
Image

Still some work to do, sort out the horn button, disable SRS warning light. However I am really happy with it, feels great and looks good. Slightly smaller than the standard wheel, could be nothing but the car does feel more responsive. Now this could just be due to the better material on the wheel so it doesn't 'slip' in my hands.

I also adjusted the ride height at the back, this was surprisingly easy to do. Thanks to BC coilovers simple set up.
Image

So it now sits ever so slightly higher. No more scrubbing due to the larger tyres. Also give me a bit more clearance for any nasty speed bumps and my exhaust did like to creep over the odd few.

Still need to sort the braided lines out, but they are on hold until I can work out a way to remove the rusted/rounded bolts connecting the OEM lines.
Also have the short shifter to fit, which I may look into tackling tomorrow.

How much are you after for it?
I'm torn between keeping the exterior stock, or adding this...?

New York is 8-) I get to go a couple of times a year.

The wheel looks good, I presume it is the real version of the fake wheel I have

If you have changed your ride height go and get a wheel alignment done, it will have thrown it out of alignment ;) Probably not by much but enough to start accelerating wear on your tyres.

It's MOT will be due soon so planning to do it then. :) thought I'm sure Honda said it would be like £200+...?
And indeed the wheels are the genuine article. I spent ages looking around, and didn't want to get a copy even though there a good copies.

Edit: only just realised you meant the steering wheel... Haha

Re: Petee's Lude 4th Gen H23A - short shifter and electrics

Post by prahunt » Sun May 31, 2015 5:28 pm

So I got back onto it with the Lude.
I needed to sort the horn and SRS light out after fitting my OMP wheel. I also wanted to get the short shifter installed.

First job was the short shifter.
Needed to remove the surround first. Easy enough just remove 4 screws on both sides. It then just pulls up and away from the dash.
Image

Then I was confronted with a simple gear linkage. Easy stuff. Just remove the bolt to disconnect the two parts.
Image
Image

Then fit the adaptor. Simple two bolts and an adjustable stopper. I had to file back the stopper a bit as it was stuck. Gave it a spray of WD40 but it wouldn't budge. No drama though.
Image

Then it was a case of putting on the cover again. Apparently some people have an issue with this but I didn't find it a problem. Back in. No issue!!

A video of the throw before:

And after:
<embed width="600" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullscreen="true" allowNetworking="all" wmode="transparent" src="http://static.photobucket.com/player.swf" flashvars="file=http%3A%2F%2Fvid1290.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fb524%2Fprahunt%2F165A81B9-1533-44A7-86A3-BC53199C6CD6_zpsggz8un8n.mp4">

Then with the help of my friend who is much better with electrics. We attached the steering wheel. Popped off the boss. Exposing the plug we needed.
Image

Then it was a case of figuring out which section did what.
The middle adaptor was the horn. And the two on the right where the SRS light.
To get the horn to work we had to fabricate a device to touch the plate on the back on the boss. Then it was just connecting the wires. We also had to Earth the horn behind the ring adaptor to get it to work. Simple enough.

A picture with the resistor in.
Image

And with the horn fitted. Still need to put the OMP cover on it. To finish it off

Then headed to a car meet in the evening. Got a couple of other members down as well. Ben and Dan. Both those guys have amazing Ludes. Very clean and both different engines. Was a nice mix.
Think we peaked over 40 cars at one point, not bad for a little meet organised at Hatfield Forum.

Same as well pal.
And that's okay. First time I went there I did the same thing. Spent ages looking round for it.

Very nice car! Tidy to say the least.
Do prefer the emotions wheels but on the other hand the silver looks good.
I'll deffenately keep an eye on this topic!

Cheers pal.
People are torn between the two. Makes a big difference to the car.
Should hopefully be getting some more bits completed to her soon. Need to get the bay looking nice and tidy and pumping a bit more power next.
