no none its sort of like a ticky sound? its really hard to explain, only at low revs though, at like 3-3500 revs the sound of the exhaust drowns it out, its really frustrating and hard to pinpoint!

the ticky sound is deffo the exhaust, 100% no doubt about it before someone suggests its the tappets

do you mean pinking? like when you pull up from a long hard run and you switch off and it pinks and tinks as it is cooling? that sort of sound?
running anything but vpower in my lude seems to overheat the exhaust very quickly and makes her pink ;)
s/s do get hot very quickly and may get better with time to run in ;)

Hey bud,

Sorry you're having problems with it, I didn't really notice it while cleaning it up. I don't know of any machine shops off hand, but it's only a google search away. A call to Infinity Exhausts might give you an answer. His works top notch, used him a few times before and not just for car stuff - he fixed all my wifes candle vat where it had leaks. He may have tooling to skim??? Worth a try.

Is it really that bad? Can you not take to it yourself with some power tools? A belt sander would knock it down fairly quickly and flat - I know I used it to remove the 'DOHC VTEC' on a rocker cover. Granted that is ali and not steel, but shouldn't take forever. Or pop up to my buddies bodyshop with me to use his tools to get it flat???

Let me know if I can help at all.

Cheers,

Rob

Heya mate no need to apologize its not your fault at all, infact it seems a really common problem with them

Yeh I'm gunna spend a little while today saning them down, I think the main problem is that gaskets for them don't exist so traight away you run into problems! Even the correct size donut gasket isn't available off the shelf

I'm sure ill get it sorted :D

Give Kev KR Autos on 01454228252 a ring and ask him if he can help you. Say its via Paul with the Lude and Soarer
I have kleptomania,
But when it gets bad,
I take something for it.

Hey finally got mine sorted. After going round a few machine places today and all of them said that they couldn't skim it as they had no way of clamping it. 4thgenphil mentioned a flapper disc on a grinder so I went out and brought one. Worked brilliantly and got it sitting completely flush together. I will be using the car over the next few days to see if its sorted but I am pretty sure it is. Cheers Jon
