Re: My 5G Vti......
Cheers for the advice folks.
The reputable sprayers around here are about £100 a bumper. Ive seen alot of their work and its very acceptable. Granted i could get it done cheaper from other places, but after seeing their work (painting it on the car, without number plates removed and what not) i would give them a wide berth.
I don't want to start spunking mega money on it for the sake of the bumper, its a £525 car so couldn't bring myself to spend the same amount in 1 go on some paintwork.
Right, i'll search for another bumper for another week, if nothing turns up, i will just bite the bullet and get it painted.
Actually, while i mind, Craig had some parts painted, front bumper etc, and its an acceptable match. Will give him a shout and see what he says.

Its about the going rate up here for decent work. There is other guys who are more expensive, with a longer waiting list etc, but these guys do good jobs, don't charge the earth, have a quick turnaround time, have a good reputation, therefor get quite alot of work from word of mouth.

Yep. But the problem is when you have large bumpers with no lines and is a dark colour. I use fade out thinners where I stop lacquering to melt the new lacquer to old.Donald wrote:So Ratty if say you had a scuff on a corner of each bumper from people that can't parallel park properly, you can just have those bits blended in, you don't need the whole bumper doing?
This 2" wide fade out blend can look slightly dry and is noticable on dark colour. On light colours you will never tell. Tend to fade out in narrow areas
That why I love Doug BMW and Audi front corners. I can soft mask to the grills and fade blend there.

So, today's work included...
Removing the front and side indicators, and lightly tinting them with a small jar of "smoke" paint for model R/C cars etc. Turned out pretty good i think.
And also removed the grille things that sit below the front indicators, rubbed them down and have done them black again (were colour coded and didn't like them).
Pics to follow once the lacquer dries.

Still no update with picture's yet but soon. Car goes to get the bumper painted either late today or tomorrow.
Also, ive fitted the old Tsudo N1 backbox from STK's Prelude. Done a deal with Vanzep for it and an intake for my Type S intake. The intake was chrome-ish (when it was new) so im in the middle of painting it in a titanium grey colour (Peugeot Storm Grey to be precise).

Re: My 5G Vti......
Ok so today i took a trip to the scrappies for some parts for the G/Fs Corsa, and ended up grabbing some Lude related stuff.
For my car i needed some H1 bulbs. Also spotted a cam cover that i can prep up and paint to replace the dodgy paint run induced cover that was on the car when i got it.
So with a little help from.....

.......and also my hobby tool thing....
...we had this.....

Still got to give it a quick rub with sand paper then hit it with some paint. Was getting a bit chilly so left it for another day.
Need to decide on what colour now. Something lairy, possibly yellow.
