Opening 5G Headlights

Post by pencil » Sun Feb 10, 2019 12:01 pm

Morning all.

Done a search on here but the link that comes up in one of the threads doesn’t work.

I want to open a pair of 5th Gen headlights. When I’ve opened lights before (on my FTO) it was just a case of heating them. These lights have tabs/clips - do they have glue too?

What’s the best process to open them without damaging them?

Open preheated tp 180degree and turn off.
Headlight placed inside for around 5mins.
Pry apart lights quickly working your way around the tabs.
Reverse is the same but you may need more butyl rope to reseal properly.

Same as above pretty much. Have a sharp stanley knife at hand as the glue can get quite stringy. Just cut through it with the knife.
