I would recommend putting the gas struts on CF bonnet, but not on heavy OEM bonnet..
I had them on my OEM bonnet and after a while they stopped working. We was at Ace cafe meet, I left the bonnet open as we're talking about the engine, one poor guy was checking out my alternator and the bonnet dropped on his head...

I'm not sure if you guys remember, long time back in PUK, I organised a group buy for some Bonnet strut things and I received my one and after 2-3 weeks later they started failing, had to give eveyeones money back and was a waste of time for eveyeone
I've come to the conclusion, don't get those cheap ones that come from Taiwan/China or the one you get from eBay. Get some from well established seller (more expensive) then the other cheap ones. As that's more likely to last longer. The cheaper ones will not hold the heavy bonnet after a while and on CF bonnet they will be not good too (as Nafe said).
