I realised shortly after writing that and having checked my PMs that I'd actually already congratulated you on Whatsapp! Oh well, you can never be too happy for someone with news like that :D

The extension's going well. Slowed up a bit recently as I'm getting the various other trades in (Electrics and then plumbing), who happen to be mates, but I'm happy not to rush them as it gives me time to do my bits (Removing old paint/plaster/render/ceilings etc). My next job for this weekend coming is to knock down the remaining part of a load bearing wall that supports two lintels I'd put in and a joist. Going to put a custom fabricated column I had made up at work in which will set the wall back from where it is and open up the room. Hard to visualise, but I've been taking pictures of every step of the way, so I'll collabrate them altogether at the end ;-)

All sounds good bud.

Interesting you've had your own column made up in work - certainly a handy place to work. 8)

So the garage is still planned as a DIY above DPC when you're free again one day? I've made progress of sorts on my potential garage idea. Some drawings have been draughted and had some initial quotes, waiting for some more this week. There are two options, one of which is also a raised decking / car port. Not ideal for me but a cheaper option and gives us the added garden above anyway. I'll post up a little thread like yours if any of its a goer.

That's right. I'll build the garage myself. Hopefully I'll make a start in the summer next year. I'm also lucky in that one of the fabricators I used to work with at my old job now works with me here as well. He used to knock out columns and rafter with his eyes closed! so he's the ideal fella for me to ask to knock me up some custom rafters when the time comes to :D If I ask him nice enough I'm sure he won't mind lifting them into position for me as well as he quite often helped out on site as well ;-)

Definitely who you know ;-)

Fingers crossed for your plans coming together as well. Feel free to PM me your designs for a nosey if you like :P
