I don't know why some of you are saying a BB4 simply doesn't need a CAT. That isn't true. This (taken from pushki's original link) does apply. MOT testers that know what they are doing (Should be all of them) know about this. But there are blatantly some that have forgotten some of their lessons since MOT school

Taken from BB1boy's link...

Vehicles Fitted with a differnt engine

Test according to which is older, engine or vehicle.
e.g. A 1995 car fitted with a 1991 engine (of whatever make), test to 1991 standards for emission purposes.

Note: The onus is on the vehicle presenter
to prove engine age.

Could be interesting as I think the engine is from a post '92 car, however it was a grey zone import :s might just mention it to my MOT tester when I go down there next

I think it would be a bit much to persuade the MOT tester to put it through as anythign other than a UK car. The chassis code will tell him that its UK.
