I sent some 4g bits to the States a few years ago, all packaged well but the guy I sent them to told PayPal they were damaged so PayPal refunded all the guys money then chased me for it! The guy sent the parts back to me and they got quarantined by customs who wanted me to pay import duty on my own stuff, so I didn't pay it and the parts were shipped back to the guy in America - so he got all my 4g parts for free while I was banned from PayPal and eBay! Balls to shipping overseas.

Personally I would not make a box. A box means it may get something stacked on-top of it, during transit to port. Trust me, I've worked in logistics for 13 years. Cardboard is ok protection, but it is more a deterrent against theft, try and make it un-stackable, like a pyramid or similar. Also worth checking shipping cost vs height. If shipping by air, discounts can sometimes be available if under a certain height. Also check if a euro pallet (800 x 1200) is cheaper than a standard pallet (1000 x1200) - obviously depends if it will fit that footprint.

might be easier removing the seat covers from the seats and sending just the covers make it cheaper to send! but as already said i have been ripped off before by overseas buyers and sellers

Insurance and photos before and after are your friend ;-)

I've shipped overseas several times now and have received from overseas (America and Europe) and never had any issues (That included a rather fragile fibre glass front lip to California).
