Thing is because i do this for a living, if someone hits me i will do it myself and do it at cost price to the person because i know my own skills, paint type and varient colour.
If i wasnt a sprayer on the other hand and someone hit me, i would travel to his/her bodyshop or on site repair and see examples of whats he/shes done and or past customers.
I wouldnt dismiss it straight away and not question it and get someone else to do who again i dont know their quality either. Makes no sense.
Why would you dismiss my work and go to a bodyshop that again you may not know their quality. Insurance approved bodyshops dont always to top jobs. Iv corrected many myself.

I can see how its doubly frustrating for you but it comes down to trust and because people dont trust each other much these days it cost us all more in the long run which like i say is frustrating
At least you were honest and owned up to it - which in itself is quite uncommon - most folk drive off and if caught deny everything

I think we can all understand your frustration bud, but unfortunately that's as far as it can go. You know the trade, you know yourself... This guy doesn't. Plus imagine feeling the slight panic and anger the guy must have been feeling, you don't always think straight in these situations. I know if I was shaken up I'd question everyone I didn't know's intentions.

To be honest mate, even if you had done the repair work for free of charge, there is still nothing stopping him making a claim on the insurance anyways. Any agreements made outside of insurance are at your own risk.
I've known a few people who have done deals with people similar to yourself, took the time out of their day to sort it, just to find that a couple of days later, a claim had been put in against them, and one person I know even had a vandalism claim against them as well as the accident as the person said that they repaired the car without their permission and wanted it re-repaired at an insurance approved garage

Depends where the dent is on the panel. Ideally somewhere in the middle is better and not near and edge or swage line.secla wrote:On a seperate topic I have a palm sized dent on the boot lid of my ep3. no cracked paint or anything. What sort of money would i be looking at to get it sorted ?
Also is there easy access to the rear?
You will want to try Paintless Dent Removal (PDR). I use Dent Devils for my PDRs on my repairs. PDR is amazing.
Try that 1st before filler/paint work. Price could be from £40 TO £100 depending on how easy the dent is to remove.
