The answer is infinite. The "figures" 0 to 9 are simply just that and are used to represent all "numbers" ;-)

There are ten 'base' numbers (0-9), but then an infinite amount of numbers that can be made from these.

1 is a number
25 is a number
1,548,823 is a number

They are all still classed as numbers.

Dictionary Definition - Number: A numeral, or group of numerals.
