I hate the fact that it's a compulsory gamble. You give them all that money for them to look after you. You can pay it for years but never need help. Then one day the unfortunate happens... It's not necessarily your fault, but now you have to prove that you "deserve" the help you've been paying for all those years. Maybe all that's needed is only a very small percentage of the grand total you've given away over the years, but still... Give the them one good reason why you should have it!

... Ok they accept that they should give you a fraction of that money you've given them to help you in your desperate time of need, but you owe them!... Next time you ask them to look after you again they're going to charge you double!!!

Ganster bullies is what they are!

On the other hand though, I used to pay around £250 a year for my old Accord, fully Comp, protected NCB.

I ploughed in the back of a kebab that did an emergency stop at traffic lights as he was looking at the wrong set of lights. I had glanced in my mirror at the time and when i looked forward, i slammed on the brakes but couldn't stop.

My damage was circa £2.5k as was his, so well over £5k in total. Thankfully this was before the compensation culture so there was no injury claim, or you could add another £2.5k each for him and his wife for whiplash, plus probably the same again for solicitor's costs.

Renewal came through still at £250 as I had protected NCB. In effect, one small bump cost the Insurers 20 years of me paying premiums. In reality, when you take into account the profits actually made on the premiums i paid (after the deduction of wages, overheads etc), i'm sure it would take well over 50 years of £250 annual premiums before they get anywhere near to breaking even on the £5k they paid out as a result of one small claim.

Things don't seem so bad then.

Ok, then... For the ones that are actually able to stay away from trouble on the roads then... I've never had an accident ;-) Until you actually claim it's a compulsory gamble that never pays off. Doesn't seem fair that if you stay away from trouble then you never see that money again. The only way to actually reap it's benefits is to have a crash!

I know it's a gamble the insurance companies take as well as they never know what is going to happen and to whom, but it's a shame the drivers that don't actually make a claim don't get properly rewarded (ie. Money back... NCB isn't really all that now is it?).

Hi,

if our prices were 'too much' then it begs the question, why did you insure with us? Not meaning to be rude here.

I'll assume that our prices are competitive and you shopped around like most customers?

Thanks

We've had some restrictions on agreed value policies lifted recently.

Thanks

Chaucer generally offer their best rate to brokers who have a proven history of showing they know what they are doing.
